Last year at OCPS the First Grade Teachers decided to complete a project on the Folk Hero content standards. Teachers worked with Deana DeVine, Media Specialist, to plan out a project that involved technology, writing, and content. Students were treated to stories about multiple folk hero characters over several weeks in the classroom and in the media center. Students were asked to complete a drawing and writing sample about each of the characters and then select their favorite. Artwork was scanned in and imported into Photostory. Students then worked with Brian Felker, Anne Harp, and Deana DeVine to record their story orally. The class projects were presented at the open house night for parents and posted on each teachers Moodle Class Webpage.
